Some information about The Music and The composer:

Born

in Aldershot, Hampshire, England on 22nd October, 1954. Nationality: British and Italian

Studied

piano from the age of seven. Sang in Wycombe Abbey Choir as a teenager. Did Grade V theory when young, which gave her the basic notions of harmony and composition.

At home

in Italy, in the Veneto, she plays a fabulous restored Bechstein upright piano, the tone and timbre of which has inspired many pretty melodies and harmonies. It’s particularly wonderful when freshly tuned.

Musical interests:

classical piano music and more modern folk or minimalist influenced piano music or film music (must-have Thomas Newman – “American Beauty”, etc.). Traditional folk music, dances and instruments (bagpipes, hurdy gurdy, bombarda, etc.)

Life:

has lived in France (Paris), the USA (Washington DC), England (London with special ties to the magical county of Wiltshire) but for the longest in Orgiano, in the province of Vicenza (Palladio country), in a little farmhouse on a beautiful hillside, with amazing views, wonderful vegetation and lots of birds and deer. There are ancient mulberry trees on the property, so calming and musical.

Working life:

degree from Bedford College, London University (Joint Honours in French and Italian), taught Italian at the University of Reading and then English at Padua and Verona University. Was a Cambridge Examiner in English for many years. Professional translator and interpreter. But….boring!
